Dr. de Oliveira recently took office as President of TESOL International Association. This election includes a three-year commitment (President-Elect 2017-2018, President 2018-2019, and Past President 2019-2020) to the main international professional organization for ESOL teachers. She had already served TESOL on its Board of Directors (2013-2016). Her TESOL leadership has developed her skills within the association and consider our values and goals along with the needs of our members. She also was President of Indiana TESOL and served on other leadership positions at California TESOL (CATESOL).
She recently participated in a panel of eight experts in ELL instruction for iCivics, the educational non-profit founded by retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, held at the Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. with Justice Sotomayor as the host.
Her professional involvement has included plenary and keynote presentations in 25 U.S. states and several countries such as Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Russia, Uruguay, Honduras, China, Croatia, Brazil, and Bolivia, as well as over 150 other refereed conference presentations since 1993.
